I try to get my daily dose of turmeric either by adding it to a juice or by making this tea tonic. In addition to the turmeric, the ginger and cinnamon also have their own health benefits:
Ginger: A classic for settling an upset stomach, this root too has anti-inflammatory effects. Ginger has also been shown to improve circulation, and has been used in many cultures for hundreds of years to treat colds.
Cinnamon: Cinnamon has been shown to lower blood sugar by increasing glucose metabolism, and also to improve capillary function. This spice also has antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory effects.
Given all this good stuff, it would be super beneficial to make and drink this tea daily. It’s super quick and easy and given all of the health benefits, why wouldn’t you?! Here’s the list of ingredients and what to do:
Ingredients:
1 cup of water
1/4 tsp ground organic turmeric
1/4 tsp ground organic cinnamon
1/4 tsp ground organic ginger
1/2-1 tsp unfiltered organic honey (depending on your preferred sweetness)
1 Tbsp organic lemon juice
How To:
In a small saucepan, bring the water to a steam (not quite to a boil, the hotter it gets, the longer you have to wait for it to cool.)
Add the spices, honey and lemon juice, and stir to combine.
Remove the saucepan from heat, and cover with a lid.
Allow the mixture to steam and combine for 10 minutes.
Drink once cooled. This tea will settle as you drink it, so you will need a spoon to redistribute the spices.
Cheers to your health!
