Hey my fellow do-gooders. If you live in the LA area, please come out and support the amazing and courageous (not to mention STUNNING), Elizabeth Ramirez on Saturday, September 17th. We will be hosting a donor drive in hopes of finding her a stem cell match. She was diagnosed in July with Leukemia and is in need of a match to increase her chances of survival. A match would give her a 60% chance of survival as opposed to the 5% without a match/donor, according to her oncologist. A match would definitely put the odds in her favor so please come out and support! Here are the the deets:
When: Saturday, September 17th from 3 – 7pm
Where: Iglesia Poder de Dios (The Power of God Church), 18825 Saticoy St. Reseda, CA 91335
Tacos and refreshments will be provided. What beats saving a life and some tacos?!
Potential donors will fill out a form, be swabbed and tested to see if they are a match.
If you can’t make it out to the event, you can register online and get a free kit in the mail by clicking on this link: Join.bethematch.org/Hope4Elizabeth and using Promo Code: Hope4Elizabeth
Here’s a little bit more about the amazing Liz:
Elizabeth Ramirez, was diagnosed on July 11th of this year with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. This is a form of cancer that accumulates in the bone marrow which affects the production of normal blood cells. She started chemotherapy immediately in order to help contain the disease while she seeks a stem cell match which would ultimately be her best chance of survival. She is a young woman who has a lot to live for. One of the most important reasons being her three amazing sons.
Elizabeth is a 30 year old single mother of three beautiful boys. Exavier is 7 years old, Evan is 3 and her youngest Ean is just 22 months. Elizabeth has been hospitalized for the majority of the past couple of months, which has left her unable to take care of the boys. They are staying with family while she undergoes treatment and visit when they can. As if the diagnosis isn’t difficult in of itself, being seperated from her boys has been devastating.
Family members have been tested already and unfortunatly are not a match. She has been entered into the donor database and is at the top of the list awaiting a donor.
Through all of these circumstances however, her spirit and smile radiate and light up the hospital room. She has remained strong, courageous and full of optimism. I believe with a match, her “mind over matter” attitude, and above all faith, Liz will soon have all of this all behind her. With your help, we can make this her reality even sooner.
