If you thought that juice bars were a trend that would come and go, think again. With juiceries popping out of the ground like daisies in the Los Angeles area, it’s pretty safe to assume that at any given time, there is a juice bar within close proximity…with more juice spots opening constantly. This is great news for us thrivers who need to consume juice on a daily basis to keep healthy in order to combat disease and keep our immune systems strong. While juicing at home is always a great (if not the best) option, if you are anything like myself and live a life on the go, juicing can be very time consuming. Being an avid juice drinker, I have been to countless juice bars and am always curious to see what’s new in the world of juice. Having become somewhat of a juice snob, I have learned that not all juiceries are created equal, so here are my top juice bar picks in my hometown of Los Angeles.
Here you will find a variety of healthy juices made from organic fruits and veggies. All Kreation juices are made from Farmer’s Market Certified Organic fruits and vegetables purchased locally in Santa Monica. Their nutrient dense juices flood the body’s cells with vitamins, minerals, and enzymes that cleanse, heal and nourish. Kreation juice bars and ‘kafes’ are easily accessible with locations in Santa Monica, Beverly Hills, Manhattan Beach, Venice and Malibu. They even have “juicemobiles” cruising the streets of LA providing pressed juices on wheels. To top it off, their Beverly Hills location has an ATM style juice dispensary for your late night juicing needs!
Handcrafted, organic and raw, the Juice Parlor serves up a menu of nutritious and tasty juices for super reasonable prices. I often times find that when juices are on the cheaper end of the spectrum, they usually aren’t organic…which isn’t the case here! Not only are their juices amazing but the story behind the company compelled me to take the drive to North Hollywood to give them a whirl. Owners of The Juice Parlor, husband and wife Dima and Sarina, experienced frustration and hardship when Sarina was diagnosed with a thyroid condition that essentially couldn’t be treated. They went back to the basics, and started juicing and blending fruits and vegetables which had the most positive impact on Sarina’s health, allowing for her to feel amazing from the inside-out. “We realized that life is fragile, and can get stressful, complicated, and down-right crazy – but, making sure that we fuel our bodies with the right ingredients can make us feel good, and then deal with everything else that comes our way.” I love these stories. If you’re in the area, give them a try!
Not your ordinary juice bar. The ambiance isn’t that of your typical juice bar here…rather their stores are sexy and sleek, living up to their slogan, “Never Conventional.” From the full spectrum of colorful, organic and raw cold-pressed juices, nut milks, tonics, elixirs, shots, shakes and smoothies they offer…you have tons to choose from. Their nut milks and charcoal lemonade are my fav! I also love that they have several locations throughout the Los Angeles area as I can always count on this place as a go to. This company was cofounded by Alex Matthews who was able to cure his psoriasis which he had struggled with since childhood. A juicer came along and suggested he try some cold-pressed beverages and remarkable results followed. Not only did his outbreaks vanish, but his skin started to positively glow. After experiencing the incredibly transformative power of cold-press juice, Matthews left his position in the fashion industry, working at the headquarters of G-Star Raw and partnered with Greg Alterman, who also came from the fashion biz and voila…Juice Served Here was born!
Originally founded in Point Dume, Malibu, SunLife Organics was started by a former Skid Row drug addict who got sober and passionate about health. Hence all of SunLife’s ingredients are 100% certified organic, wildcrafted, or pesticide-free and everything behind the counter is free of gluten and refined sugars. You can read founder, Khalil Rafati’s super inspirational story here. I LOVE this place…I frequent their Malibu location as it’s closest to home for me although they have several other locations throughout the LA area. It has a super zenned out and relaxed vibe with beautiful crystals everywhere! They carry a host of healthy pressed juices along with Brazilian açai bowls, salads, and smoothies with a retail shop offering organic food (human and dog). SunLife also offers a liberal selection of add-ons, like raw organic protein powder, goji berries, probiotics and young Thai coconut. SunLife is the perfect finale for your hiking/beach day… My two most favorite pastimes.
5. Beaming
Beaming has become a destination for organic cold-pressed juice, superfood smoothies and delicious healthy take out. “We have opened the door to extraordinary health and raised the experience of the traditional ‘juice bar’.” Beaming offers organic cold pressed juices and premium superfood smoothies, unique cleansing programs and a menu of organic plant based food. Their juices are fresh and delicious and worth the Montana Ave parking struggle… The Santa Monica location is closest to me although they have other locations throughout the Los Angeles area. They offer samples of their juices, have them prebottled or make them fresh to order. What sets them apart from other juice bars is that they offer low-glycemic options for virtually all juice and smoothie options! The interior is beautifully decorated with a lounge style vibe. Def one of my favorite spots to get my juice on!
Juice Crafters is a family-run business with multiple locations throughout the LA area although I have only been to their Palisades location as it’s literally a hop, skip and jump from my home. This is the most accessible juice bar for me with an easy grab and go convenience. I can literally pull up curbside, grab my juices and be on my way. They have a great selection of prebottled juices and the prices are more reasonable in comparison. They also can make any juice fresh to order and have a great smoothie menu as well. Owner and manager David Nia calls the store a healthy alternative to fast food. “I want to give people who are always busy and on the run — between classes, work, interviews, etc. — a better option to energize themselves between their daily activities. The juice bar is designed so that customers can just walk in, order their beverage and be on their way. Still, don’t let the speed fool you: The cold-press juicer the store uses enables the drinks to have three to six times more vitamins, enzymes and vital nutrients than other juicers.” On the run?…this is your perfect juice destination.
7. Erewhon Tonic and Juice Bar
Although Erewhon is an organic family owned market, within the market they have an awesome juice bar in addition to a rather large selection of cold pressed bottled juices. I lived in the Calabasas area for a short while and I would go to Erewhon every single morning to get my fresh juice. They have three locations in Calabasas, Venice and Los Angeles near the The Grove. After becoming a regular, I also found out that you get credit for the bottles if you return them which came in handy for me as they would accumulate pretty quickly. I love their “Just Greens with Lemon and Ginger.” Definitely has been one of my more regular spots.
8. Moon Juice
With two locations in Venice and Los Angeles, Moon Juice is a sort of mystical wellness apothecary serving a plethora of pressed juices, milks, healthy snacks, tonics and such. Both spots have a mystical vibe have been written up in virtually every magazine as “Hollywood’s favorite juice bar.” All of Moon Juice’s vegetables, fruits, and leaves are hydraulically pressed, which doesn’t heat or oxidize the produce. The result is a nutritionally packed, live juice that is loaded with enzymes, vitamins, trace minerals and other vital elements. One bottle of Moon Juice contains over 3 pounds of raw, 100% organic produce. They don’t pasteurize their juices, and with proper refrigeration they will maintain their nutritional stability for 72 hours after being pressed. I especially love how every bottle of juice names three health benefits of the specific produce contained inside.
9. Rejuice
Rejuice is an organic beverage and vegan food cafe specializing in organic & vegan juice, smoothies and food. They use local and organically certified produce; every beverage is cold pressed and hand crafted. They also offer customized cleanses and nutritional advice as well as juice delivery and a refillable bottle exchange program. They have two locations, one in Santa Monica and another in Beverly Hills although I have only been to the Santa Monica location. The staff is aways super accommodating and friendly. My personal fav is their “G3” juice as it has less fruit and more veggies. They are reasonably priced in comparison to some other juice bars with a great selection.
10. The Punchbowl
This hip juice bar in Los Feliz was created by a health-conscious couple from Brooklyn, who created it to be a peaceful, stress free environment where people can relax, listen to good music, and enjoy delicious, nutrient-rich juices and foods. This place is super inviting and has a great vibe. Raw, organic, and 100% vegan, The Punch Bowl offers an assortment of refreshing juices and shakes to liven up the day. Try the “Wonder Greens,” consisting of kale, lime, mint, romaine, cucumber and celery, or spice it up a notch with the “Spark Plug,” with turmeric, pineapple, ginger, apple, lemon and cayenne!
While these are my favorite go-tos, I know that there are so many others. What are your favorite juice spots?…I would love to know. Be well my fellow thrivers!
