“Like many women, for much of my life, I was defined by my place in relationships. This changed ten years ago as I began my transition from full-time mom to a self-realized individual.
In 2003 I became a Reiki Master. Reiki is a Japanese technique used for the purpose of stress relief and healing. The idea of health coming from within one’s self and not a pill intrigued and motivated me to want to learn more. Over the next two years I immersed myself in meditation. The benefits to body and wellbeing were immediately evident, and in 2005 I was certified in visualization and Imagery by a top institute in New York.
With the clarity of mind I was achieving, I had a strong insight that I was unwell. I felt fine, but trusted this new intuition and went to my doctor. After a range of tests, it was confirmed that I was indeed unwell. I was diagnosed with stage 1 uterine cancer and had a radical hysterectomy. That experience changed my life. I now knew that I had tapped into something within myself…. that if I listened to, would guide me to care for both myself and those I loved.
In 2006 I went on to become a Reiki Mater ll and over the next few years, totally immersed myself in understanding the connection between the inner-self, the emotional-self and the environment.
Then in 2012, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. After receiving that diagnosis, I knew it was time to leverage all the insights I had been gathering to support myself. I took responsibility for what was happening in my life. Free from fear, guilt, or blame, I became empowered. I saw for the first time with clarity, the connections between my inner-self and the reality that was evident in my life.
On this road of realizing who I was, I began for the first time, to put myself first. Interestingly enough, this shift benefited everyone around me. It became an adventure I am still enjoying. Empowered with this self-realization, I began to mentor and coach others to help them see these connections as well, and am currently in the process of becoming a certified facilitator/coach in order to help teach others how to end suffering while moving them closer to knowing their true selves and the peace within. We are not victims of life but victors.”
